HRM 3302-22.02.00-5A25-S1, Human Resource Management
Unit V Discussion Board
Please note that there are two posts needed to successfully complete the discussion board assignment. An initial post addressing the discussion board topic is due by end of day Saturday. A response post to at least one other student is due by end of day Tuesday.
Before beginning this post, review the section, Managing Conflict, in Chapter 10 of your textbook. Review the five conflict management styles: avoiding, accommodating, forcing, negotiating, and collaborating.
Think of a recent conflict you have been involved in and describe which of these five conflict management styles you used. Which of the five styles do you believe the other party in your conflict employed? In hindsight, would a different conflict management style have been more effective?
If no initial posts exist to allow for a response to be made, you may submit an additional initial post addressing another aspect of the unit topic.

After reviewing the task, social, and individual roles in section Chapter 9.1 of your eTextbook, briefly summarize what you learned from this discussion, including how these roles impact your communication style and approach.
Then, choose one role from each table (task, social, and individual) that you feel you tend to gravitate to the most when working with a group (e.g., under “Task Roles” you may choose “information seeker”). Provide real-life experiences to illustrate why you feel that you do this and how this may be advantageous or disadvantageous.
Of the individual roles listed in Table 9.3 in section 9.2.1 of your eTextbook, which do you feel is the most detrimental to group project work? Explain your rationale.
If no initial posts exist to allow for a response to be made, you may submit an additional initial post addressing another aspect of the unit topic.
