Assignment 2: Practicum: Decision Tree

The Childhood-Onset Schizophrenia

The Childhood-onset schizophrenia is an extremely rare form of psychotic disorder. The disorder affects children at age of 12 years and below. Notably, the condition is often chronic and characterized by persists debilitation (Gogtay, 2017). Importantly, the symptoms in the children below 13 years and below is less common. The symptoms and diagnosis of the illness are dived into two categories, the positive symptoms, and the negative symptoms. Importantly, the major difficulties of the condition are due to the sharing of the symptoms with other illnesses such as bipolar disorder, depression and other conditions. Same symptoms have led to misdiagnosis of the patients leading to more complications or improper treatments. Additionally, the diagnosis of the hallucination that is quite common with other conditions in both children and adolescents. Therefore, the effective diagnosis of the childhood-onset schizophrenia calls for consideration of the co-morbid physical as well as mental factors.Assignment 2: Practicum: Decision Tree

Differential Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis is the process of examining the differences between two or more conditions that have similar symptoms or signs (Gogtay, 2017). Because the Childhood-onset schizophrenia shares similar symptoms with other conditions such as depression and bipolar disorders, the practice of differential diagnosis is essential.  The practice is significant as it provides the room for examination of the exclusion of mood disorders, substance-induced psychotic disorders as well as the psychosis due to the medical condition. Importantly, the practice makes it possible to examine the Central Nervous System tumor, progressive organ systems, the Schizoaffective, Multidimensional Impaired Syndrome, Neurodegenerative disorders as well as the secondary psychosis to epilepsies thus defined the condition (Gogtay, 2017).Assignment 2: Practicum: Decision Tree

Notably, the differential diagnosis makes work of specific signs for the illness thus ease of detection of the Childhood-onset schizophrenia. The practice considers acute porphyria, Asperger syndrome, autism, cognitive deficits, pediatric bipolar affective disorder and pediatric depression thus the right definition of the condition.  Even though the illness has close symptoms with the bipolar affective disorder, the practice enables the doctor to examine the periods of euthymia, therefore able to detect some patients with absence of the periods of psychotic hence diagnosis of the schizoaffective disorder (Gogtay, 2017).  The rationale of the practice is that it makes it possible to make systematic analysis with many tests hence different results allowing the definition of the diagnosis. Due to the different results based on the many tests carried out, the doctor is able is able to make the right decision on the particular conditions due to the diagnosis outcome.Assignment 2: Practicum: Decision Tree

The treatment plan for the psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is one of the best means for the diagnosis and treatment of the Childhood-onset schizophrenia. Importantly, the effects of the practice are founded on the treatment plan. Importantly, the mental treatment plans are multi-faceted and versatile documents allowing healthcare practitioners to design and monitor the therapeutic treatments (Dulcan, et.al, 2017). Because the Childhood-onset schizophrenia shares many signs with other conditions such as pediatric depression, effective treatment of the illness must be well planned. The psychotherapy has attached benefits.  The treatment plan for the psychotherapy is significant due to the nature of its sections. Notably, the treatment plans have the history, assessment, the demographic section, which entails the psychosocial history, the onset symptoms, and treatment history. The utilization of the section enables the physician to define the specific symptoms therein to a made conclusion.Assignment 2: Practicum: Decision Tree

Moreover, the medical history of the patient also facilitates the decision-making by the doctors as if the family history suffer the condition or the patient has suffered from the same condition.   Additionally, the plan has the treatment goals that form the basis of treatment.  In addition, the plan possesses the inventions as well as the possible outcomes. The inventions sections make it possible to define the specific techniques and tests thus specific result thus the correct diagnosis of the impending condition (Dulcan, et.al, 2017).  The utilization of the outcomes enables the doctor to realize the possible error committed as well as the mismatch in the diagnosis hence ability to make right diagnosis and treatment of the illness, the Childhood-onset schizophrenia.Assignment 2: Practicum: Decision Tree

The treatment plan for the psychopharmacology

Since the Childhood-onset schizophrenia is a mental disorder, it calls for psychopharmacological treatment.  Due to the complexity of the psychopharmacology, the intervention needs continuous study ensuring upkeep with the new advances.  The study involves neuroscience, clinical medicine, diagnosis, and treatment of the other mental disorders (Gleason, 2017). Therefore, the effects of the study call for effective treatment plans.  Because the practice involves several tests and diagnosis over time, it makes essential for the illness, which calls for diverse tests and diagnoses.Assignment 2: Practicum: Decision Tree

The utilization of the antipsychotic drugs has been considered effective for the treatment of the schizophrenia in both children and adults. There is still an urgent need for better pharmacological tools to treat schizophrenic patients. Importantly, the effective pharmacological treatment calls for effective plans. Due to the sharing of symptoms with other illnesses, the treatment of the conditions call for an effective plan that bears four primary sections; the assessment and treatment history, treatment objectives and goals, intervention and the outcome (Gleason, 2017). The plan makes it possible to include relevant stakeholders such as family members, caretaker that translates to a quick recovery.Assignment 2: Practicum: Decision Tree

In conclusion, these three decisions are essential due to the attached benefits. Notably, the Childhood-onset schizophrenia shares diverse symptoms with other conditions such as bipolar disorder and depression hence the utilization of the differential diagnosis, treatment plan for the psychopharmacology, and treatment plan for the psychotherapy methods.
