Erikson was a developmental psychologist with a focus on child psychoanalysis. He is most remembered for his theory of psychosocial development (Gross, 2020). The term “psychosocial development” is just a fancy way of saying that describes how a person’s psychological needs interact with societal pressures (social). A human goes through eight developmental stages that build on one another, according to Erikson. We encounter a problem at every step. We get psychological or character attributes by overcoming the crisis that assist us in becoming self-assured and healthy individuals (Orenstein & Lewis, 2021).
