noted by Hersey, Blanchard, and Johnson (2008), there is no one best
way to influence people. The leadership style a person should use with
individuals or groups in a certain situation depends on the performance
readiness levels of the people the leader is attempting to influence and
the power needed to set in motion the resolution for that situation.

Examine
your problem, issue, or conflict and determine follower readiness and
the leadership style that needs to be used in resolving the situation.
Specifically, describe performance readiness, the leadership style, and
the power base that drives the style, such that the necessary
situational use of the leadership style and power are apparent. Be sure
to note sources of power and determine whether the sources need to be
developed. Describe how you would attain the necessary power to augment
your leadership style and performance readiness to resolve the
situation.

Next, apply this information to your problem, issue, or
conflict. Describe how the information fits your problem, issue, or
conflict and will assist in its resolution. Support your conclusions
with well-cited statements.

In addition, answer the following questions:

• What is the follower readiness level?
• What is the leadership style you propose to resolve the situation?
• What is the power base required to implement your resolution?
• How does the power base need to be developed?
• How would you attain the necessary power to augment your selected leadership style?
• How will the performance readiness of the followers be enhanced by the selected leadership style and your empowerment?
• How does the application of your selected leadership style and power base resolve your problem, issue, or conflict?
