Research Question: What is the effectiveness of current airport personnel training for active shooter situations in enhancing readiness, and how can existing programs be improved?Part 1:

This week your final draft project is due. That does not mean less than final! It only means that I will provide feedback to be incorporated into the final version that will be filed in the library and that you can take away as part of a portfolio or present to your supervisor/project manager. The project should include the cover page, contents, and other formatting as per the EOP Manual (and submitted in Week 13). It should also include an abstract, introduction, literature review, project design, and the end result of the project itself. 

The following checklist may prove helpful! 

• Title Page exactly as in End of Program Capstone Manual but noting a Project instead of thesis
• University publication license/copyright page
• Dedication (optional)
• Acknowledgement (optional)
• Abstract with correct title heading (must be 150-200 words)
• Table of Contents
• List of Tables
• List of Figures
• List of Acronyms/Abbreviations if applicable
• APA format if not otherwise indicated by the agency for which the project is being done
• The rest of the capstone project is flexible as far as format

The literature review summarizes and synthesizes the previous research on your topic. It places your study in context and discusses how it differs from what is already in the field. This section should be at least 7-10 pages, but you will continue to add to this as you go. You should have no fewer than 10 scholarly articles as references in this submission. You are attempting to establish what the literature says, and where the gap exists that you plan to fill with your project.  

You may find help at http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/tutorials/litreview/. Please make sure not to “stack” sources. Weave each source into the relevance of your project and each other. Group the literature by themes and use headings. It is usually a good idea to move from the academic scholarly literature, to the national studies, then to state and local and finally anything specifically to your work. Many projects have government reports or state or agency documents in this section compared to what you would find in a thesis lit review, but you do need some scholarly peer reviewed journals to set the stage.  

Technical Requirements:

 Your paper must be at a minimum of 7-10 pages (the Title and Reference pages do not count towards the minimum limit).

• Scholarly and credible references should be used.
• A minimum of 10 scholarly/peer reviewed sources are required.
• Type in Times New Roman, 12 point and double space.
• Students will follow the current APA Style as the sole citation and reference style used in written work submitted as part of coursework.
• Points will be deducted for the use of Wikipedia or encyclopedic type sources. It is highly advised to utilize books, peer-reviewed journals, articles, archived documents, and government publications.
• All submissions will be graded using the assignment rubric.
