Strategic Leadership Critique

Strategic leadership refers to the ability of leaders to think and act strategically in order to achieve their organization’s goals. This involves setting a clear vision for the future, aligning resources and efforts towards that vision, and continuously adapting and innovating in response to a constantly changing environment (Chen et al., 2018). One journal article that discusses strategic leadership is “Innovation and Strategy Development for Leaders” by Chen et al. (2018). In this article, the authors argue that leaders need to be proactive and innovative in order to stay competitive in today’s business environment. They suggest that leaders should engage in activities such as idea generation, problem solving, and experimentation in order to foster a culture of innovation within their organization. One example of good strategic leadership is when a leader takes the time to understand the needs and goals of their organization, as well as the competitive landscape, and then develops a plan to achieve those goals in a way that sets the organization apart from its competitors.
