The physical world is being affected by the global epidemic of coronavirus since 2019 (COVID-19). Environmental impacts are high due to the measures adopted to halt the virus from spreading and the delay of economic operations (Cheval, 2020). Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate, via a literature review, both the positive and negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the environment. According to the results, the global pandemic has helped restore the natural system by lowering GHG emissions, decreasing water pollution and noise, and decreasing the number of visitors to popular tourist spots. Some unintended implications of COVID-19 include a rise in medical waste, the improper use and disposal of disinfectants, masks, and gloves, and the persistent threat posed by untreated wastes (Barouki et al., 2021). It appears that, after the pandemic, economic activities will resume, and things may alter. Therefore, this research also suggests strategies for producing lasting improvements to the environment.
