PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!

I have attached my first essay below:

My name is Jennifer Carbuccia, and I am 28 years old. I was born in Dominican Republicand at 3 years old moved to New York City. I live and was raised in Queens. I am on an EPermitfrom CUNY York College to study at CUNY Brooklyn College for this class. This is my lastsemester at of my bachelors degree and I can not be more excited. I am going to be the first one tograduate college in my immediate family. Something that you should know about me is that I am amom, a single mom. But just because I am a single mom does not mean I am not fully supportedby my boyfriend, family, and friends. My son, Sebastian, is 4 years old and the reason I came backfor my degree. I am taking Psychology of Gender because I want to know what gender is. Gendercan be many different things to different people.I identify as female and was born a female biologically too. When I think of the termgender, I think of traditional gender roles. I was raised mainly by my grandmother and mother, andI witnessed conforming to traditional gender roles. For example, dinner must be served around acertain time every day, or the women oversee the children. I saw my grandmother and mother gettreated nasty by certain men in my life if things werent in tip top shape. I thought for this to benormal and ultimately led me down to a very hard time in my life in a toxic relationship. In thatrelationship, I was conforming to the same gender roles that I saw my grandmother and mother gothrough. Believing that this is how relationships worked because I saw the men in my life treat thewoman the same way my ex-partner treated me, elongated the relationship. I remember one day, afew months after I had my baby, and he would not stop crying. I was not able to cook dinner in

time for my ex-partner and when he got home and instead of helping me with the baby, he scoldedme that dinner was not ready and since I am a female, I should be able to handle a screaming babyand finishing dinner on time. It was one of the first times that I realized I was being put into agender role. One thing that I am consciously working on myself is not having a typical gender role withmy son. I am going to teach my son to have basic life skills like cooking, cleaning, and doinglaundry for himself one day among other things. I am teaching him about feelings and to be able toexpress those feelings even to me when I get upset at him. I want my son to know that his futurepartner is not his maid and to have patience with them. My son will know that he can have any jobhe wants in the future.I have experienced advantages and disadvantages of being and identifying as female. Oneadvantage of being a female is that usually people are gentler with you. What I mean by gentle isthat because I am a female, people are more trusting of me. One disadvantage of being a female ishow to world looks at us as less capable to do things. For example, job titles like taxi driver, firefighter and construction workers are known to be dominated by males
